Your Willpower Has a Bug (AI Is the Patch)
Willpower is a finite resource that depletes. How to use AI to automate decisions and save mental energy for what matters — from someone with 19 marathons who almost never feels like running.
Why I stopped trusting my "desire" after 19 marathons.
Motivation is the biggest "smoke" in the personal development industry.
They sold us the idea that to do great things, we have to feel inspired.
That's a lie.
And it's a dangerous lie.
"Average" (the average professional) operates under this scheme:
- Wakes up needing motivation.
- Looks for it on YouTube/Instagram.
- Gets a dopamine hit.
- Feels productive for 2 hours.
- Crashes. Repeat.
Do you know who doesn't have bad days?
The Algorithm.
Do you know who doesn't need to watch a YouTube video to get to work?
Artificial Intelligence.
I'm not telling you to become a robot.
I'm telling you to use the robot to protect yourself from your own biology.
The Invisible Enemy: Decision Fatigue
There's a physiological reason why at 10 AM you're a lion and at 3 PM you're a zombie scrolling Instagram.
It's called Decision Fatigue.
Your prefrontal cortex has a limited "battery."
Every decision you make consumes charge.
- What do I wear? (-5%)
- What do I eat for breakfast? (-5%)
- Do I answer this email or that one? (-10%)
By the time it's time to do deep work, your battery is in the red.
The Lesson of 42 Kilometers
I've been running marathons since 2011. 19 of them.
People ask me: "Pablo, how do you feel like running 30km on a Sunday at 5am in winter?"
The answer always disappoints: I almost never feel like it.
If it depended on my desire, I'd stay in bed buried under the covers.
But I don't depend on my desire.
I depend on my System.
- The sneakers are next to the bed.
- The clothes are prepared.
- The Garmin already has the workout loaded.
I don't decide. The system decided last night.
I'm just the worker executing the architect's order.
And I know that system conditions me toward a better version of myself every time I execute it.
That's your real ROI.
AI: Your Digital Architect
This is where technology comes in. Many people use AI to generate text. That's basic.
"Above Average" uses AI to generate structure.
I use AI to eliminate the friction of decision-making.
I delegate planning, prioritization, and ordering to it.
It's the logical machine that doesn't get tired, doesn't stress, and doesn't get scared.
It builds the path. I walk it.
The result: When I sit down to work, I don't spend a single watt of energy thinking "what do I do?"
I just execute.
The Real Why (Legacy)
And this, at the end of the day, isn't about productivity. It's about Reliability.
When you close the laptop, you're a father, a spouse, a person of faith.
- Your kids don't need a "motivated" father. They need a present father.
- Your faith doesn't ask for "emotion." It asks for commitment.
Motivation comes and goes.
Systems remain. If you want to leave a legacy, stop waiting to "feel good."
You're human to love.
You have to be machine to deliver.
